Our Mission

The mission of the http://onlineinternetblog.blogspot.com/ is to fund and support hands-on environmental projects for children and youths. Our objective is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Through environmental education, we believe that children can achieve a better understanding and appreciation for the world in which they live.

If you would like to invest in youth, 100% of your tax-deductible contribution will go towards hands-on environmental projects for youth. Join our other partners, and your investment will go directly to build environmental stewards for future generations.

History of the Foundation

The Captain Planet Foundation is an offshoot of the popular Captain Planet cartoon series created by TBS, Inc in 1990 and intended to entertain children while teaching them the importance of environmental responsibility. Captain Planet broke new ground by successfully merging children's educational programming and entertainment programming. While in original production, the series received three Daytime Emmy Nominations, three Environmental Media Awards, a Parent's Choice Award, two Genesis Awards for animal issues programming, and a commendation from Peggy Charren's Action for Children's Television, as well as numerous other educational and media accolades. In 1991, Ted Turner decided to take the proceeds from this commercially successful, educational, yet entertaining series and put those profits into something that would inspire the very people that consumed it, youth. CPF awarded its first environmental grant in 1992.
The Captain Planet Foundation parted from TBS, Inc. in 2001 and is now operating as a 501c3 nonprofit public charity. Funding for our youth projects comes from a combination of grant awards, partnerships with local and national organizations, and an annual holiday fundraiser. Captain Planet Foundation has funded projects in all 50 United States and internationally in Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ireland, Israel, Philippines & Pohnpei, impacting over 625,000 youth since its establishment in 1992. Our youth participants range in age from 4 to 18 and come from a wide variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

The CPF gives children the opportunity to become active participants in discovering lasting solutions to issues that affect their entire community. The greenhouse effect, global warming, destruction of the ozone layer, toxic and radioactive wastes, and over population are just part of the litany of environmental dangers. To adults, the magnitude of the situation seems overwhelming and disheartening. Fortunately, "hopeless" is not part of a child's vocabulary. CPF represents a unique opportunity to make a positive contribution to our vanishing resources and to pass on a message of inspiration to the next generation of business and government policy makers.

The challenges facing professionals in the intelligence, counterterrorism and first responder communities grow exponentially as the ability of a few individuals to inflict mass casualties and destruction upon a civilian population continues to accelerate. Whether it’s through the use of biological agents, chemical weapons, dirty devices or hijacked airliners, the consequences of momentary success for the terrorist weigh heavily on our community.

It is impossible to prevent every act of terrorism. We are no sooner likely to wipe it out then we are to rid the world of hate and crime. We can, however, reduce the frequency with which it occurs. We can make the land that terrorists operate in hostile to their presence. When the inevitable day comes and an attack occurs, we can be ready to respond and save lives.

For more than 16 years, offerings from IntelCenter and its sister company, Tempest Publishing, have been designed to assist professionals in furthering this goal. All of our products are designed to achieve real results for the operator, analyst or first responder.

Our focus as a company is on studying terrorist groups and other threat actors and disseminating that information in a timely manner to those who can act on it. We look at capabilities and intentions, warnings and indicators, operational characteristics and a wide variety of other points in order to better understand how to interdict terrorist operations and reduce the likelihood of future attacks.

The results of this work is then disseminated in a variety of Alert, Current Intelligence and Analytical Resource services. It also provides the foundation for our field books such as the "First Responder Chem-Bio Handbook." Our primary client base is comprised of military, law enforcement and intelligence agencies in the US and other allied countries around the world.
